HomeAid regularly hosts HomeAid Cares Days, which are construction and home improvement projects that improve a facility that serves the homeless but do not add additional beds for the homeless. Examples include finishing the basement of a home, installing shelving to convert a storage room/garage into a food pantry or donation storage area, interior and exterior painting, deep cleaning, building a deck or patio, landscaping and more.
HomeAid Cares projects can accommodate from 5 to 200 people. This is an opportunity for those interested in volunteering for HomeAid projects to get involved in a very hands-on way.
Streamline Builders is currently finishing the basement of Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley to create a playroom for children staying in shelter.
In 2009, Rich Larson will lead a basement finish for Denver Children’s Home’s Discovery Home, to provide additional space in this home for boys aged 15-18. HomeAid Colorado is seeking trade support for this project.
