HomeAid operates based on a simple, proven model - an easy, three-step process:
- Identify and select as successful care provider (homeless service agency) that seeks construction services to build a new facility or renovate an existing structure.
- Recruit a volunteer builder captain who manages the construction of the facility and assists in securing trade partners (plumbers, carpenters, painters, electricians, etc.) to provide in-kind labor, materials or services.
- This team works together to build or renovate the facility, with a goal of serving a larger number of homeless children, women and men. When complete, the facility is owned and operated by the care provider.
The key to HomeAid Colorado's success is leveraging in-kind donations of building materials and labor from professional builders and their trade partners to multiply the impact of every cash donation received. This allows HomeAid Colorado to build transitional housing with minimal cash, enabling care providers to focus their time and resources on direct service programs for the homeless.
For every dollar invested in HomeAid Colorado, the building industry in our state gives $2-3 in-kind, leveraging donations from our community to accomplish more with less.
